NUK x HolyPoly x WILDPLASTIC®

How the „Schnullermonster“ makes recycling child's play!

A new life for old soothers and baby bottles? Sounds good! But what does WILDPLASTIC® have to do with it? Together with the team from HolyPoly and NUK, we developed a shipping bag made of 80% WILDPLASTIC® for NUK's „ Schnullermonster" campaign in 2023.

Our partners

The brand name NUK is based on the product promise of natural and jaw-friendly. Both still apply to this traditional German company today, but customer expectations have long since gone much further. Parents want products for their babies that are not only natural, but also sustainable. The use of green electricity and renewable raw materials is already standard at the company, but this is just the beginning. This is why NUK is investing its innovative strength not only in sustainable product development, but also in new recycling perspectives, with support from HolyPoly.

HolyPoly a service provider for plastic recycling cycles has the mission and the means to make high-quality recycling a matter of course. To this end, HolyPoly develops complete circular solutions for brand manufacturers such as Bosch, Lamy, Mattel and NUK. Comprehensive consulting, development and manufacturing services for these customers enable high-quality plastic recycling cycles that are not only sustainable but also economical.

I love eating plastic!

With this campaign, NUK wants to make it easy for families and nurseries to recycle old soothers, baby bottles or drinking cups and focus on how old can be turned into new. Users can either collect the products at home or pick up a Schnullermonster shipping bag made from WILDPLASTIC® at any Müller or Babyone store in Germany.

The shipping bag is intended to make it even easier to return products, motivate more people to participate and reduce the program's logistical CO2 footprint.

As a brand manufacturer, we feel a responsibility to act sustainably, also for the next generations. We are a plastic manufacturer and know that plastic is the best raw material for our products. It is therefore all the more important for us to handle this recyclable material responsibly. After all, it is made from limited fossil raw materials. Recycling not only conserves resources, but also saves energy, because not only the production of PP, but also the incineration of used products consumes a lot of energy. Although our products are of the highest quality, they also have a finite service life and as we know that PP is extremely recyclable, we are keen to recycle our products.

From wild plastic waste to the „Schnullermonster“ mailing bag

Where does the wild plastic actually come from and how is it processed?

1. Recover

In countries without a sufficient waste management systems, such as India and Indonesia, the wild plastic is collected and sorted by collectors. The material is then washed and shredded.

2. Sorting

The wild plastic is then recycled and processed into granulate. This turns wild waste back into a valuable resource.

3. Recycling

Next, the WILDPLASTIC® granulate is further processed into circular products such as mailing bags.

4. Schnullermonster mailing bag

In a final step, the finished Schnullermonster mailing bags will be distributed to Babyone and Müller stores in Germany. You can pick them up there to take part in the campaign.

Every tonne of recycled material saves two tons of CO₂. So far, however, less than 10 percent recycled material has been used in the manufacturing of new products. HolyPoly's mission is to change this, and every product counts. The collaboration between WILDPLASTIC, NUK and HolyPoly proves that the circular economy can be successfully implemented step by step at product level. This is how we must continue.
